Every ones website

My favorite websites were Kevin Clement's, Abby Talley's, and Thomas Bartanusz. I liked kev's because it was related to the Trinity Tigers Baseball Team. Abbey's and Thomas's I thought were both professional.

My Web Site

Please visit my website at www.cs.trinity.edu/~tbarron
I thought that making this site was a lot harder than i expected it to be. I was thinking it would be very simple and it wasn't. I used the tool expression web and still found it somewhat difficult. I am most proud of my running page because i feel that it is my most creative page. I probably would have changed my backgrounds because i feel like they are amateur. My biggest technical challenge was getting the pages to be centered and aligned like I wanted them to be. My biggest design challenge was my lack of creativity. I would feel comfortable showing a future employer my web site. I could make another website for a class for a final project. I think that this was a great project and should be continued to be done by people in the class.

Project Self - Analysis

I chose a basic picture of a very clean and pristine river. I thought that this would be a fun picture to manipulate. The picture originated in the orsierra club files on the website http://orsierraclub.files.wordpress.com/2009/06/metolius_river_pine_lg2.jpg. I manipulated the picture by adding things that would commonly not be seen near or in a river such as dolphins, a penguin, and a polar bear. I didn't find the manipulation to be harmful in any way other than it shows how easily a picture can be manipulated to get people to believe what you want them to believe. Adding some friendly Arctic animals and dolphins doesn't affect how the river is portrayed and therefor isn't harmful. The article I researched said that some of the photos produced in O.J. Simpson's civil trial were fake. The court was fooled by these photos and found O.J. to be guilty. This relates to my photo because it shows how with a picture, any mind can be manipulated.

HTML code

While there are many different soft wares available to make the website creating process easier, all creators should be familiar with HTML coding. It a basic skill for frequent computer users yet it is important. If something were to go wrong with the software or the website didn't look exactly as you planned, you could use the HTML coding to fix a minor problem. It would be difficult for the creator to fix the problem without a proper understanding of HTML code. Another reason HTML coding is very helpful is that it helps you to appreciate the difficulty of creating something we view as simple such as Facebook or a blogging website. Every page has a very in depth code that goes with it.

Powerpoint

I thought that the shake weight presentation was very good. I liked how the slides came in and left. It was well thought out and the timing was brilliant. The color scheme was good and it wasn't filled with too much information. I also liked the ideas presented in the Technology presentation. The colorscheme was technology based and made you think of an apple running system. I thought that the presentation was timed out very well. If I'm not mistaken the slides moved on their own which means that the presentation was practiced and nailed to a T.

Gonzo Stuff

My collage is about my bull, Gonzo, deciding whether he should head for the barn because he is cold in the snow and it would provide him shelter, or stay with his three knew baby calves

Chris Nolan Blog

In class on Wednesday, a man by the name of Chris Nolan came in and taught our class how to research topics using public search engines such as Google. I learned that by using a database you can find out more information than using a search engine. Becuase most databases are websites, a search engine may not pick up on them, yet they often have ten to fifteen times more information than websites. Through his speaking, I was surprised to hear that there are invisible or deep websites. These are sites that the search engine you are using might not pick up on but can be incredibly helpful to writing a good paper. I will be using most likely be using databases that the school website offers for research on my next paper as opposed to using Google.

Pictures that Lie

I selected the picture of the fabled jackalope because it is in one of my favorite songs by Robert Earl Keen. The picture originated as just a picture of two normal jack rabbits. In the altered picture, the rabbits have antlers similar to a deer. It was manipulated to convince people that there are in fact jackalopes running around in south Texas. This picture is only harmful to the imagination of young people. The young mind is much more susceptible to trickery by photography but the picture is harmless.

CLT

Last class we visited the CLT Center. I learned that it is place that exists on the first floor of the library and it is where I would go if i needed to use a computer to create complex photographs, or to have a computer that has video editing software. The computers available in the center are much nicer than the ones offered in the various study lounges throughout campus. I really liked the presentation room. In the future for other classes I will defiantly be using this room. For our class I could use the photograph based computers to help when we get to design. I could use the video editing software to create my own YouTube videos and become the next Internet star. I really like how nice the guy helping us was, and I will be visiting the CLT center at some point in the near future.

I was not in class on Thursday but based on what my classmates said, we were visited by a man named Jason Hardin. He is the manager of access services here at Trinity University and seems to know quite a bit about copyright issues. One thing that really jumps out at me is the issue of file sharing. I will be the first to say that i have "stolen" my fair share of music in my day, but i was ignorant to the rules and regulations regarding that act. I think that the musician should be able to state whether or not he wants the music to be able to be passed around through file sharing. Once we arrived at Trinity we agreed to not partake in stealing music on campus however we can do it off campus. This stance on copyright issues baffles me, but it is what it is and I will not be stealing any more music on campus.

My Trinity Network Diagram

This exercise was useful in figuring out more indepth how the trinity network actually works. While it was tedious I found it highly informative, and it will probably help me later in the class to understand how the network functions.

Good Evening Class,

I though that the most interesting part of Joe Hatch's semi-lecture was the information on "cleaning up" your computer. I have never heard of using the site ccleaner.com to clean your computers memory and help to run more efficiently.

I will defiantly be using this site to make my computer happier.

Thanks,
Tanner

First Post

Howdy,
My name is Tanner Barron. I am from Houston, Texas. Though I was not there, it is where I was raised. I have played baseball since the 1st grade beginning with T-Ball and continuing all the way till now as I am on the Trinity Baseball team. I like to run, and I very strongly dislike morning people. I have been around computers most of my life but know very little about them and have minimal skills other than how to long into facebook.
My email is tbarron@trinity.edu
